The secret to every long-lasting epoxy garage floor lies in floor preparation. At King Custom Coatings, we take floor preparation very seriously.
No matter the size, every job we do starts with mechanically grinding the concrete floor. Removing old paints, oils, stains, and dirt helps to create the correct concrete profile. This allows the epoxy floor coating to penetrate and bond effectively.
Once the concrete floor is clean and new looking, we move on to repairing any cracks and holes in the floor. Only once we are happy with the condition of the floor we move on to installing your new epoxy floor.
We first apply a primer coat that acts moisture barrier and better epoxy adhesion. Once the primer is cured, we apply the 1st layer of basecoat. If you have chosen an epoxy flake finish, we also broadcast the flakes onto the basecoat. For metallic epoxy flooring, we apply a self-leveling coat containing metallic pigments.
Once the basecoat is fully cured, we will scrape off the excess flakes for an epoxy flake finish. Then, for solid colors, we will apply the second coat of color.
We seal every floor with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. This topcoat is designed to protect your new Cincinnati garage floor coating. It guards against the elements, direct sunlight, scratches, damages, and stains.
